    These Pages talk about configuring Xwindows on Linux.

     

    Xwindows is the perfered software used to draw graphic on a Unix systems. Almost all Linux systems use a version of Xwindows as the basis for their Graphical User Interface (GUI). This graphic shows how Xwindows is the basis of the GUI on a Linux/Unix system.

     

     

    You can also look at Xorg ( http://www.x.org/wiki/ ) which is the base Xwindows software used in several Linux. In pictular most recent version of Ubuntu.

     

    In the past many Linux systems used Xfree86 (http://www.xfree86.org/ ) as their version of Xwindows software.
