There seems to be a problem with Mythbuntu MythWeb package. Here is part of the conversation I was having with a user that was trying to get it fixxed.
The bug is also in Ubuntu 7.10's MythWeb Package.
I found the fix for mythweb. It's in this forum post:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=590858&highlight=mythweb
"ok now I resolved the problem, the password in
/etc/mythtv/mythweb-htaccess was not the same like in
/etc/mythtv/mysql.txt and everytime I run dpkg-reconfigure mythweb the
password will be replaced with a wrong one :-/"
So, I just changed the database password line in the file
/etc/mythtv/mythweb-htaccess to the correct one, which is listed in the
file /etc/mythtv/mysql.txt. That password seems to be autogenerated by
Mythbuntu setup. Based on this forum post, I did NOT run the
dpkg-reconfigure command again, as it is reported to screw up what I
just fixed!
Also, you have to point your browser to "IP ADDRESS"/mythweb and then it
works. Pointing to just "IP ADDRESS" like we've done with Knoppmyth
doesn't work. It looks like this: 192.168.7.13/mythweb
It's still something that should be fixed, but until it is fixed, we
know how to do it ourselves.
Cheers!

That looks promising. (I don't have time to read the full thread
right now).
I will try and take a look when I get a chance tonight at my mythbuntu
box and see if I can figure out what you would need todo to fixx it.

I see others are having the exact same symptoms. This looks like a
bug in
the final release.
There are some sugested fixes in this post:

I'll try them tonight after work.

Eric,
I found this link on the web,
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=573843 that will tell you to
sudo dpkg-reconfigure mythweb
which I should of thought of.
Give that a try, and see if that will fixx it.
Good Luck.

I'm not sure where it was getting the Mythweb. I did have the
ethernet plugged in during all the installs so it could have been
either,
I suppose.

Humm...
I will have to look at the other system I have that I setup loading
Ubuntu and then loading MythTV stuff. See if that one is broken.
Do you know if your mythbuntu was getting the MythWeb package from
the cd-rom or from the internet ?

Hi Brian,
I wondered if you were using the beta or the final. I do think
mythweb got broken when they made the final version.
Mythweb is checked in the Mythbuntu configuration window by
default. I tried many things including uninstalling mythweb,
reinstalling mythweb, setting the mythweb username and password. I
also reinstalled Mythbuntu several times - wiping the hard drive
clean each time just to be sure there was no residual crud from the
previous install. Based on that, I think the problem is the final
version of
Mythbuntu 7.10.
Thanks for your advice.

Eric,
I didn't have to set anything to get MythWeb to work ? I was
using the Beta ? not sure if something was broken between the
Beta and the finial release ?
Did you try and reboot ? you also might make sure mythweb is
installed (I don't remember if I installed that or not ? ) do and
"apt-get install
mythweb" ?
I will try and send you my apache config from my mythbuntu.
Good Luck.
